Terms of Service

These terms govern direct use of api.ironstratum.com, the IronStratum console, and our published API models. If you access IronStratum through a marketplace (OpenRouter, Hugging Face, or similar), that marketplace's terms also apply to that use.

1. The service

IronStratum provides inference from AI models over an OpenAI-compatible API. The catalog of models, their per-token prices, and context windows are published machine-readably at /v1/models — the API itself is the price list.

Model changes are never silent. A model alias never changes the model that serves it. If we retire a model, you get 90 days' notice and a named replacement. Promotional pricing, where offered, carries its end date in advance.

2. Your account and API keys

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your API keys secret. Keys are your credential: usage under your key is your usage, and charges to your wallet. Compromised keys can and should be revoked immediately from the console — revocation is instant.

3. Acceptable use

You will not use the service to: create or distribute unlawful content, including child sexual abuse material; develop or operate malware, or attack computer systems you are not authorized to attack; generate content that infringes another party's intellectual property; deliberately degrade or probe the service beyond normal operation (including circumventing rate limits or capacity controls); or resell access in violation of applicable law. We may suspend keys that create risk while we investigate.

4. Credits and billing

The service is prepaid. You buy credits at face value — we charge no fee for loading credit — and usage debits your wallet per token at the published rate. Cached input tokens are billed at a lower published rate, and reported separately in the usage field of every response.

Your wallet is a hard cap: when the balance reaches zero, requests stop. It cannot go negative. Used credits are non-refundable; prepaid credits do not expire. Payments are processed by Stripe, and Stripe's terms apply to payment instruments.

5. Availability

We operate a pre-scale service and do not yet offer an SLA. Current availability is visible at /v1/health. We treat outages seriously and publish status honestly — but no uptime warranty is offered at this stage.

6. API stability

Our commitments, in contract form: the /v1 API is additive-only — fields and endpoints may appear, never disappear or change meaning; accepted parameters never change behavior; emitted fields are contractual. Breaking changes would require a new versioned surface, not in-place changes. Full detail in our API documentation.

7. Data

We do not train, fine-tune, or evaluate models on your prompts or completions. This is a term of this agreement, not a preference. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is stored and for how long.

8. Intellectual property

You retain all rights to your inputs and outputs. We claim no license to them beyond what is needed to operate the service. Some models are released under open licenses with their own conditions on outputs or downstream use — for those, the model's license governs your use of the outputs.

9. Disclaimers

Model outputs can be wrong, confidently. The service is provided "as is"; we disclaim warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Do not use outputs unmonitored in safety-critical, medical, legal, or financial decisions.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

11. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your use of the service in violation of these terms or applicable law.

12. Term and termination

Either party may terminate at any time. On termination your keys stop working immediately. [Unused-credit refund posture — owner ruling: proposed "refunded on termination by us for our convenience; forfeited on termination for your violation of these terms"].

13. Changes to these terms

Material changes get 30 days' notice to account holders before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
